erokCom.com == no more + other stuff.

So I took down my erokCom.com site. After awhile it started to feel like I had more stuff than I really wanted to manage. But don't worry, I will still post stuff on Flickr. (I have it redirecting anyway)

I have yet to embrace Twitter. I did sign up for Plaxo, but then deleted it. How many social distractions does one person really need?

I am however a Facebook fan.

Here is to a weekend without the computer.

Simple vs. Complex User Interface Design

I just ran across this article about Simple vs. Complex User Interface Design. It's a good read. Here is one of my fav quotes..

" I think it’s a reality. Whether we’re developing using a high-end design or a low-end technique, we need to focus on what the project does and what kinds of needs it actually fulfills at the end of the day. We should think about usability as a continual process.

To be honest, I go back and forth on Craigslist because on one hand, I’d love to see someone take it and make it look good and build a brand around it visually. But on the other hand, the brand is what it is and has formed itself organically. I will say this though, as far as rich Internet applications go, there is an opposite effect. For example, people in the financial industry use very rich Internet financial applications all day long — Web-based and standalone — for trading and other functionality that you just couldn’t do in low design."

Two things

**One: I love my wife very much.
**I started a new painting. I am enjoying the freedom of just creating something for the sake of, well just because I can.

The Katie Show

A pretty interesting listen from the Katie Show at CP+B.

Elephant Painting

Watch this elephant, rescued from abusive treatment in Burma, now paint an amazing self portrait. You'll be amazed at how his talent unfolds.

My wife is awesome

Amanda was a joy to work with. She did our session under unusual circumstances… at the airport, on military timing, which meant we had no information! Even with little notice, not much room, and tons of people in the way, Amanda did a GREAT job. She really has a gift. She was able to capture the emotions along with the shots. She was very patient and friendly. I’m not sure how often her clients are a big mess of nerves, but she put up with me being neurotic and my 4-year-old being really excited. The pictures are wonderful, great quality, and everyone who I show cries. Amanda has a gift both with photography and with people.” — A

I am the most proud husband in the whole world.

Super Deluxe is no more

"Turner's original comedy vid platform SuperDeluxe is being folded into AdultSwim.com, the company's more successful, young male-oriented comedy channel. From the memo to employees: Our management of the Turner Animation, Young Adults & Kids brands requires us to always look for efficient, strategic ways to grow them. In Super Deluxe.com and Adult Swim.com, we have businesses whose potential for individual growth is limited by their increasingly complementary content. Rather than position them as competitors for the same audience, the smarter move is to consolidate the two brands to create a richer, stronger platform that builds on Adult Swim's number-one position with young adults."

Sad, I have friends that worked on this project. I hope everyone did not loose their jobs.

Capturinglight Photography is live!

I redesigned my wife's photography site, and I can't even begin to tell you the amount of work she put into getting this thing finished. Actually, it's better in her own words.

"I’ve been working my little fingers to the bone for several months, scraping together any free time that I could… writing content, slicing images, coding, ftp’ing, tweaking tweaking and more tweaking. Phew!"

In case you did not know, she is a REALLY talented Children's Portrait Photographer. She has a vision with everything she does, and really is able to connect with her clients.

You should hire her. :)

Typography Friday

Typography Friday is here; and I am tired.. I admit, I LOVE this project.. But, it has been a little hard as of late to come up with good ideas I am really proud of. Maybe the weeks to come will bring new inspiration...

If you are reading this, maybe it at least inspired you?
